University of Akron Corrosion Engineering Students Visit ASB Industries
Along with a tour of ASB Industries, engineering students witnessed Thermal Spraying and Cold Spray with a highlight where students sprayed with the hand held high pressure cold spray---
On April 7th, students from the University of Akron Corrosion Program visited ASB Industries to learn about a local company with international reach around the globe. The facility tour focused on explanations of component repair and enhancement surfacing to prolong the life of equipment and value of repaired equipment to OE specifications. Along with the tour, engineering students witnessed Thermal Spraying and Cold Spray with a highlight where students sprayed with the hand held high pressure cold spray equipment. It was discussed that ASB Industries is a turnkey facility utilizing surfacing technologies including Cold Spray, Thermal Spray and Welding. ASB Industries continues to support our colleagues including the annual ASM Teachers Camp held last year at the University of Akron with a tour of ASB Industries, ASM local chapter including a recent presentation at the local Chapter Meeting and the University of Akron including participation during the beginning stages of The University of Akron’s National Center for Education and Research on Corrosion and Materials Performance (NCERCAMP) Along with multiple Research and Development programs focused on Cold Spray, ASB Industries is FAA approved per Cold Spray coatings on magnesium components.
